El transporte ha contribuido a que la actividad turística evolucione, de ahí que su relación haya sido ampliamente estudiada en la literatura académica. Sin embargo, tras la pandemia. Por su parte, el turismo es una actividad social que necesita de infraestructuras pero que, a su vez, cuando se trata de un sector activo en el territorio puede coadyudar a
conseguir un desarrollo social positivo. En este sentido, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo llevar a cabo un estudio bibliométrico a través del mapeo científico y del análisis de rendimiento en aras de analizar cuál ha sido la producción científica sobre transporte y turismo desde la perspectiva social. Basado en un estudio de concurrencia de
palabras clave, término, autores, índice de citas, centros de investigación y revistas, los resultados nos indican que la sostenibilidad y la economía son los temas motores. Sin embargo, resulta imprescindible para futuros investigadores la concentración en otros aspectos y la relación con otras disciplinas ya que se ha observado un importante nicho de investigación.
