Author Guidelines

EDITORIAL GUIDELINES TOURISM, DEVELOPMENT AND WELL-BEING - JOURNAL OF TOURISM SCIENCE RESEARCH - RICIT

Editorial Focus

RICIT is dedicated to disseminating innovative research in tourism and related fields. We accept submissions that offer critical analyses, original results, preliminary findings from ongoing research, and underexplored approaches that contribute new perspectives to the field.

Important Note:

Submission of a manuscript implies full and irrevocable acceptance of these editorial guidelines.

Formal Requirements

The RICIT journal will publish scientific and research articles, all of which must be original and unpublished.

Maximum length: 20 pages.
Up to four authors per article are permitted.
Font size: 12, Times New Roman, 1.15 line spacing, justified text, A4 size.
Submissions may be in Spanish, English, or Portuguese. Citation and referencing style: APA style, seventh edition (American Psychological Association, 2020). It is recommended to consult: https://apastyle.apa.org/
Illustrations, photographs, or images of any kind will be referred to as figures; tables will be used for charts with statistical information. They must be referenced in the text and/or appropriately placed and accompanied by a caption that identifies them. In addition to their inclusion in the original file, it is essential to submit them to the management system as additional documents of no lesser quality.
The authors' information must not be included within the document (see "Peer Review and Anonymity").
The corresponding author is responsible for entering the complete information of all authors into the platform (see "Manuscript Submission and Metadata in OJS").
Documents and submissions that do not comply with these guidelines will be automatically rejected.
The opinions expressed by the authors are their sole responsibility and do not necessarily reflect the views of the RICIT journal.

Peer Review and Anonymity

The document must not contain any information that could identify the authors. The presence of such information will result in the immediate rejection of the manuscript.

The journal uses a double-blind peer review system; therefore, author information must be entered exclusively in the OJS platform metadata.

Manuscript and Metadata Submission via OJS

All manuscripts must be submitted through the OJS platform, with complete and final metadata at the time of submission.

The corresponding author is solely responsible for:

Entering the complete and accurate information for all authors into the OJS platform.
Verifying that the information entered is accurate and final before finalizing the submission.
Only those registered in the platform's metadata at the time of manuscript submission will be considered authors.

No subsequent authorship changes will be accepted once the editorial process has begun.

The omission of authors from the metadata or the subsequent request to add new authors constitutes a serious ethical violation, contrary to good editorial practices. In these cases, the journal may reject the manuscript, even if the evaluation process is underway or has concluded.

The journal is not responsible for errors, omissions, or inconsistencies made by the corresponding author when registering the metadata.

Documents or submissions that do not strictly comply with these provisions will be automatically rejected.

Required Information on the Platform

The following information must be uploaded to the platform:

-Name of the author(s), with their highest academic degree. (Note: If the collaboration was carried out with a group of students, the corresponding author must be a faculty member with a verifiable academic degree—Master's or Doctorate. The journal may request documentation to support the declared status.)
-ORCID identifier of each author (enabled for public viewing).
-Name of the affiliated institution and country of the institution. (Note: The "Affiliation" field refers exclusively to the institution where the author studies or works. The journal does not request personal data such as national identity card number, passport, or other identification documents.)
-Contact email address for all authors.
-Biographical information for the authors, including their role in the manuscript's development.
Up to four authors are allowed.

Declaration on the use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors who have used generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, or others) in the writing, translation, analysis, or revision of the manuscript must explicitly declare this in the Methodology section or in the Acknowledgments, indicating the tool used and its specific purpose. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

All manuscripts must include, at the end of the document and before the references, a statement of conflict of interest and a statement of funding. Example wording: “The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest” or, if any exist, specify their nature. Similarly: “This research did not receive external funding” or, if it did, indicate the source and project number.

Letters of Acceptance

Letters of acceptance will be sent via email only once the entire editorial process (peer review, revisions, and final decision) has been completed. They will be issued during the week of the official publication of the corresponding issue.

Under no circumstances will advance, provisional, or conditional letters of acceptance be issued.

Authorship

Each author must have contributed to the work to a sufficient degree to take public responsibility for its content.

Authorship credit should be based solely on the author’s essential contribution:

a) Conception and design of the study or analysis and interpretation of the data.
b) Drafting of the article or critical review of a significant portion of its intellectual content.
c) Final approval of the version to be published.

Participation in securing funding, collecting data, or providing general supervision of the research group does not, by itself, justify authorship.

The order of authorship must be a joint decision of the co-authors.

Group members who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged in an “Acknowledgments” section.

The editors may ask authors to justify the assignment of authorship when they deem it necessary.

The opinions expressed by the authors are their sole responsibility and do not necessarily reflect the views of the RICIT journal.

Considerations Regarding Papers Related to Degree Programs

The journal focuses on publishing research that analyzes, theorizes, and conceptualizes tourism and its contribution to community development. We do not accept purely descriptive plans or assessments prepared as class assignments or course requirements that do not contribute an original analysis or an independent research methodology. Diagnostic studies that form part of graduate-level research (master’s or doctoral) or another formal research process will be considered for evaluation, provided they meet the methodological rigor and academic contribution required by the journal.

The editorial review and peer-review process does not conform to the academic deadlines of the authors or their institutions.

Consequently:

Thesis or dissertation papers are not accepted.
Articles submitted as a requirement for graduation are not accepted.
Manuscripts whose degree conferral depends on the issuance of letters of acceptance or publication are not accepted.
The RICIT journal assumes no responsibility for editorial delays that may affect degree conferral or graduation procedures.

Article Content for RICIT:

-Title of the Work (Spanish and English)
-Summary and Abstract: 200 words maximum
-Keywords: At least 5 keywords related to the main topic, along with their English translations.
-Introduction: Provides a general description or overview of the study’s content, including the problem, objectives, hypotheses, literature review, and the current state of the field.
-Theoretical Framework: Current and relevant theories related to the main topic; concepts that must be explained due to their relevance to the topic.
-Methodology: A set of methods. It outlines the procedure followed and the instruments and tools used to answer the research questions.
-Results: These include new information, as well as analysis, discussion, expansion, or enrichment of the subject of study.
-Conclusions: These constitute a final interpretation of the information and data, bringing the research to a close.
-Bibliographic References

RICIT seeks articles that analyze, theorize, and conceptualize tourism and its contribution to community development.

The following are accepted:

Research articles: comprehensive studies that present a clear focus on a topic related to tourism.
Methodological articles: descriptions, along with their respective analyses, of new methodologies applied to the study of tourism.
Case studies: in-depth analyses of specific cases that offer valuable insights into practices or phenomena in tourism.
Practical innovation articles: research that documents the implementation of new practices or technologies in tourism, presenting measurable results.

Frequency and Submission Deadlines

RICIT is an annual journal (January–December) with a rolling call for submissions. However, two deadlines are established for the editorial process:

First deadline: May 30 (manuscripts received by this date may be published within the same year).
Second deadline: September 30 (manuscripts received by this date may be published in the same year or the following year).
