Aim and scope

Tourism, Development and Buen Vivir. Journal of Tourism Science Research – RICIT –

This is a publication of the University of Tourism Specialities (UDET). This journal was launched in 2011 in response to the need to establish a platform for disseminating scientific research on tourism-related topics.

RICIT aims to promote research in the tourism sector, generating knowledge and strategic information through the exchange of ideas and by bringing together researchers and academics from diverse disciplines and fields of study across Ibero-America who have distinguished themselves through their work on applied topics.

In this way, RICIT serves as a source of in-depth research in the fields of tourism, hospitality and gastronomy, becoming a valuable tool for tourism scholars, students and lecturers, as well as for business leaders seeking to make sound decisions for the sector.

Our challenge today is to establish RICIT as an academic benchmark and to ensure that the articles published in it have a far-reaching impact on the management of tourism projects, thereby responding to the social needs of the most vulnerable communities and the demands of an ever-changing reality, with the aim of improving the living conditions of our people.

This is an open-access journal published annually in December (Publication date: 10 December).

We accept unpublished articles; therefore, please note the following:

 

Authors may not publish more than one contribution in the same issue of the journal.

RICIT seeks articles that contribute to the analysis of tourism as a discipline and to its role in economic development. We accept:

Research articles: full-length papers that present a clear focus on a topic related to tourism.

Methodological articles: descriptions, accompanied by analysis, of new methodologies applied to the study of tourism.

Case studies: in-depth analyses of specific cases that offer valuable insights into practices or phenomena in tourism.

Articles on practical innovation: research documenting the implementation of new practices or technologies in tourism, presenting measurable results.

 

General criteria:

 

The journal focuses on publishing research that analyses and explores tourism as a discipline capable of making a significant contribution to economic development. Undergraduate dissertations or coursework, as well as purely descriptive analyses produced as class assignments or to fulfil course requirements, which do not contribute an original analysis or an independent research methodology, will not be accepted. Diagnostic studies that form part of postgraduate research (Master’s or PhD) or another formal research process will be considered for evaluation, provided they meet the methodological rigour and academic contribution required by the journal.

 

By submitting the manuscript for publication, the author(s) automatically agree to the terms of the Copyright and Self-Archiving Policy; upon reaching the final stage of review, they must sign a Letter of Assignment of Rights declaring their voluntary acceptance of these terms, as well as confirming that the text is original and unpublished.

The publication of articles is subject to approval by our co-editors and peer reviewers, under a double-blind review system. If the manuscript passes these stages, it enters a review process carried out by our style editors and translators, following which authors will be required to make the changes indicated. In all cases, authors are required to meet the manuscript submission deadlines previously set by the editor-in-chief.

All manuscripts will first be reviewed by the journal’s editorial board – to ensure they comply with the publication guidelines set out here – and subsequently sent to the reviewers. The journal *Turismo, Desarrollo y Buen Vivir. Revista de la Ciencia Turística-RICIT* undertakes to inform authors whether or not their texts will be published, as well as of any comments made by the section editors and peer reviewers.

 

Note: The data and concepts presented in the works, as well as the accuracy of the references, are the sole responsibility of the authors. Contributions will not be remunerated. Authors retain their copyright and, through the Letter of Assignment of Rights, grant *Turismo, Desarrollo y Buen Vivir. Revista de la Ciencia Turística-RICIT* a non-exclusive licence for publication and distribution, in accordance with the terms set out in the Copyright and Self-Archiving Policy.

Plagiarism Detection

The editors of the UDET Journals carry out plagiarism detection using paid systems (Plagiarisma). Upon submission of an article, these services are contracted. This process takes place in Phase 1, which involves the verification of the content by our section editors. 

Use of interoperability protocols:

The journal uses the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol for the exchange of metadata on the Internet. The metadata used is encoded in Dublin Core 1.0.

RICIT is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Licence.

Consequently, the RICIT journal retains the publication rights to both printed and digital works.
